Academics

Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa. This is why each chapter is expected to maintain academic standards equal to or higher than their university’s or college’s all-sorority GPA. Additionally, each chapter establishes a GPA requirement for active members.

If a Kappa struggles academically, we help her through it. The Academic Excellence Team meets with her to craft an improvement plan using study tactics and time management. We want each sister to leave college with what they came for: a degree.

To provide opportunities for studying and to keep our sisters accountable, we offer a study table sisterhood weekly in our dining room called Kappacinos. It is a great place for Kappas to come and study individually and work on group projects with other university students. Each semester, we hold a Scholarship Banquet that recognizes and rewards the chapter for the previous semester’s hard work and specially recognizes our sisters who made the Dean’s List or received a 4.0. This system has contributed greatly to keeping our sisters accountable for their education.

The Beta Kappa chapter holds academics in the highest regard. We come from a long tradition of scholastic excellence and take great pride in our chapter GPA being consistently ranked among the top 3 Panhellenic chapters ever since our founding on the University of Idaho campus, over 100 years ago. We are happy to report that this past semester as a house we had a cumulative GPA of 3.50, exceeding both the All Greek Average and the All Student Average. We are proud of our academic accomplishments and strive to meet Kappa’s expectations.
